I think I have officially signed up for ‘crazy’. Yes, I am competing again this weekend.
I never had this show on my list of shows to attend this year as it was my son’s birthday on May 1, and we were going to have his birthday party the 5th of May. Which lands right on the weekend of the Pittsburgh Pro. Thinking that my family needed a break, I had decided not to do it. However, after hearing how many were attending, and with the numbers so low in fitness – I just had to go. I kept talking about it, so my husband said basically – don’t go and you will talk about it, so why don’t you just GO and stop talking about it.
I have never been so indecisive before.
Last Thursday – day before the deadline – I submitted my contract. My reasons are very few
1. I won’t be able to do this forever,
2. I love competing
3. I am not getting any younger.
In the last few days I have been scrambling to make appointments for tanning, makeup, and hotel, and flight reservations. Luckily I have done this so many times that I know what to do and what needs to be done.
This year they changed the rules to qualify for the Olympia so that the top 5 gals with the most points will also be invited to the Olympia. This is the ultimate goal. Hopefully this weekend I will be able to come back with some points.
I had already been in prep for the Toronto Pro Supershow and hope that I have done enough to place well this weekend. My routine is ready, and I have added a few extra moves, and hope that the judges take notice.
This has been a dream of mine as well – be able to compete at my leisure, without having to turn my life completely up side down to do it. With teaching it was a bit of a struggle, but I managed. Now that it is completely in line with my work as a personal trainer, it is a bit easier as I make my own schedule.
I know I am very lucky, and feel very appreciative to have such a great family of support.
More to come after the weekend,
A.
