About

Welcome!  So excited to meet you! If you are interested in starting (or restarting) your fitness journey, making fitness part of your lifestyle (after a layoff/injury) or want to level up your physique (while living your life), you have come to the right place.

My name is Allison Ethier, online coach, personal trainer, nutritionist, fitness competitor/model and educator, but you can call me Ally, or Coach A.

There is no one-size-fits-all approach to getting fit. With over 25 years of fitness experience, my coaching, and programs can help you get organized with your training, lose body fat without dieting. Your fitness should not be your whole life, but it can help enhance, the life you already have.

Let’s get started.

How I got here…
(coles notes version)

My journey into fitness started after I finished my undergraduate studies at the University of Western Ontario and the conclusion of my cheerleading career. I decided to compete after watching the Fitness America Series on ESPN.

I continued on to the University of Prince Edward Island to get a degree in Education, where I also discovered the magazine Oxygen. I also found a local show, prepared for it, and the rest, as they say, is history.

My life and my fitness career officially started after graduation. By day, a high school math teacher; by night and on weekends, a fitness competitor and model. I got married, bought a house, and had Zachary, who is now 16 years old. The birth of my son was a game changer for me.  The impact pregnancy had on my body, and my approach to fitness, but with finding the ‘new normal’ with work/life/fitness balance.

After struggling to manage it all for about three years, I took a break from teaching. A chance to work as a personal trainer, have my own office, and take part in something that fired up my soul presented itself that same week. In 2010, I switched to full-time personal training and online coaching.

After around 10 years, my desire to run my own fitness studio began to grow after the birth of my second child, Owen, who is now 6 years old. I left my current (and only) gym, in March 2020 in order to create my own studio at home and continue to improve my online training.

I wanted to be there for my children and have the freedom to coach clients both in-person and online–I wanted the best of both worlds.

Currently, my priorities remain on my family, my personal fitness (competing and staying strong & healthy while ageing), my online wellness coaching clients/Studio A training clients, and developing training programs that simplify the process of building strength & muscle.

You should know that…

  • It is never too early or late to get started.
  • You can get fit at any age.
  • A periodized strength training program will bring you faster results than random workouts.
  • Consistent lifestyle habits are key, before moving on to building muscle or getting lean.
  • You can lose body fat without bottoming out your calories (think 800-1200 calorie diets) and food restriction (only eating fish and asparagus), or buying tons of supplements.
  • Strength training is essential to build muscle and keep your metabolism burning.
