Life long learner

How much do you study?

Me?  Not as much as I would like.  When you take a complete 180 to change your life you need to slow down, and learn.  Not so much re-learn, but re-focus, and see where you can transfer skills you already possess and use them in a similar way in a different atmosphere.

I am finding that I need more time in a day for:

1 – My son  & family (#1 priority)

2 – My mental health (training & mental rest time & some extra sleep)

3.  To be awesome at my job – which is now personal training. Which equals – more time to study.

I have always loved to read, and learn.   When I was teaching, pedagogical days were built into my schedule in order to learn, and grow.  I need to add some pedagogical days into my schedule.

I feel that I have to fast track what I know in order to become great – maybe not by next week, or next month or next year, however, at around 10 year post university gradutation, I feel that I should be excelling at something at this point in my life.  I have started over in a way, have a certain professional skill set, but my training knowledge foundation is just being built.

I need more construction workers – which means I need more studying time.

Time to make some choices.

Do it anyways.

Do you try? Do you try all the time? Not just when the time is right, but all the time. (as truly there is never a right time –>perfectionism any one?). Sure you have a trainer, you have a plan, you implement the plan but do you try your best all the time?

Try defined – “to attempt to do or accomplish“.

Do you attempt to do all your sets, all your reps.  Do you succeed at them?  Then try harder.

There are times when we don’t want to work when we are at the gym.   As surprising as it may sound there are times when I don’t really want to be training.  (oh my gosh, not you….. yes, me and yes me too).  But the difference is I do it anyways.

I know that I need to get in ‘x’ amount of trainings to achieve my goals in the gym.  Doing less than what is expected is not going to produce the results you want.  In fact is can be more frustrating as now you are not following the plan laid out for you.

So my advice,

Show up, do the plan at 100%, and then see what happens.

Success – good, try harder the next time.
